well not really back in action but a new promise to add some interesting content on a somewhat regular basis. There are actually some posts which I archived for fear that they may scare away any potential clients. If you are visiting this looking for webwork, you are probably best served to go directly to my Portfolio section, granted it is due an update as well (I have in fact worked on may sites since 2006).
Thanks for visiting, now back to work for me.

Nothing against Moe’s, they took a great idea of the west coast burrito and made as generic and plain as possible, but with funny names for items and some decent tomatillo salsa, they warrant a visit every so often. No Juanita Greenberg’s by any extent at all though.
But back to my point, you don’t go to Moe’s on Cinco de Mayo. Moe’s comes from Atlanta USA, not Mexico. Moe’s doesn’t not really offer true mexican food, but a very american, aka generic, take one ingredients originating south of Texas. If you feel obligated to eat ‘Mehican’ on the 5th of May at least visit a restaurant owned and operated by folks that are of mexican heritage. If you are in Greenville SC, visit Rosalinda’s or at least Corona’s.
Witty me to hippy coworker at LaPaz in Asheville: ‘Muchas Garcias.’
Hippy coworker: ‘Your Jerry welcome’.

at least the back end functionality of adding posts, being that my resolution of the new year was to actually post more to this site. I have failed miserably. I hang my head in despair. Clearly I am not the blogger that I thought of myself as, for pete’s sake it has been Nov 2006 since my last post. Very lame, full of shame, nobody to blame, got no game.
Maybe one day I will have something to say worth using this.

happy cinco de mayo. College + St. Patrick’s Day/Cinco de Mayo always spelled much trouble, fun times for sure though. Now days maybe the obligatory trip to the order-by-number mexican restaurant, aka sweet tea. Actually this year, I celebrated with my family dining on tasty fish tacos, which has possibly become one of my most favorite meals in the whole wide world.
Cinco de Mayo resolution, post more often.

this will be my third day straight eating barbeque, thank god for the south and for the pig.
I have become a very big fan of HBO’s Entourage which airs on Sunday evenings at 10 EST, with a rebroadcast Monday evening. I pretty much had to force myself to watch a couple of episodes to pick up on the levels of humor layered throughout the dialogue and to get a grasp on the show as a whole. Please do not get me wrong though, this show is not the intellectual nugget that you can brag about watching on Monday mornings, like Deadwood or Walker Texas Ranger. The writing is clever enough though to entertain for the 20+ minutes it occupies in my weekly schedule. Jeremy Piven’s character, Ari Gold, is easily the highlight of the show, but each of the four guys, well Vince and his entourage of three, are equally likable. I’ll end by saying that any show which guest stars Bob Saget, playing Bob Saget, taking bong hits while rustling hookers is golden in my book. Best line from last night - Turtle to Johnny Drama: ‘Dude did you just get co#$-blocked by Bob Saget?’.

ok so the rain isn’t completely gone, but the skies are starting to clear. I’m referring to WP that is. I have finally been able to hack at the code and overall structure of WP somewhat so that I am able to add more static ‘pages’ to the interface. I modified the code so that these pages would display a second column, now I need to create widgets to fill in this second column on these pages.
So far, I like having an interface to manage everything. Though I have built custom interfaces in the past for clients to manage similar areas of content, it is kind of nice to have a totally different, more featured environment.
I decided to make the portfolio section a static page. At first I treated each portfolio item as a separate post which kind of made sense, but I wanted the section to appear in the header bar and instead of hacking the code for a category of posts to appear, creating a page seemed less painful and more inline with the overall structure.
I am still not 100% sold on WP as an alternative to possible future client projects, there seems to still be some areas that I am missing, maybe I should take a few minutes/hours to read through the WP codex. Things though are starting to come together.

OK so i finally have a new design in place and it looks pretty good. Since I am a hack when it comes to CSS, I had to ‘borrow’ a theme from the WP themes, then spend way too long trying to figure out where all the color changes came from and such. It looks workable now. I’m sure that there are some issues abound though. Maybe now I will use WP and start adding content.
Next step is to port over all MIM content, which is pretty minimal at best, into this style and hopefully manage via the WP backend.
